After
having a sumptuous lunch at 21 Restaurant,
we decided to hang out at Café Bob’s which is just across 21 in Lacson Street.
Café
Bob’s is not just a café which the name misconstrues but it is an establishment
in its own. Inside Café Bob’s is the restaurant and cafe which serves pizza,
pasta, a lot of cakes and pastries and a multitude of coffee and tea
concoctions; Cab, the gelato corner;
and Deli, the gourmet shop which
offers cold cuts, cheeses, wines and other epicurean food.
A friend
suggested we ordered Café Bob’s famous grilled ensaymada.
Grilled
Cheese Ensaymada. The ensaymada is toasted to
perfection. It has a really crispy exterior and still retains the soft interior
of the customary ensaymada. There’s also a very generous amount of cheese under
the thin layer of brittle sugar on top.
The
only thing I don’t like about it is the serving time. Our coffee and tea were
already tepid when it arrived, so it was about 30 minutes.
One
of my friends ordered this beautiful cake. I don’t know the name of the cake
but it was light and sweet. Best paired with a hot coffee.
After
about an hour, finally, the rain stopped. So Masskara Festival, here we come!!
