La Creperie

Gourmet Crepes + Quality Teas

In our country, crepe is almost synonymous with dessert so most people would think that La Creperie is a dessert shop.

But La Creperie is a restaurant and is in fact, one of the few restaurants in town selling the most exciting crepes—both the gourmet sweet kind and savory salty (probably the best in town) varieties.

La Creperie’s interior is charming and sophisticated, in white, yellow and moss green motif. The table looks classy with its marble top, the seats are comfy and the lighting gives off such a relaxing effect. Add to that the sweet aroma of freshly made crepes and the soft hum of Classical music.

            Tea Time.

La Creperie imports their tea from Singapore. TWG Tea (The Wellness Group), is a luxury tea brand in Singapore, offering aromatic and first class teas from all over the world.

What makes TWG one of a kind? La Creperie’s Owners Christine Laman and Cheese Ledesma gave us 3 brands of Earl Grey Tea to sample. The difference among the three are noticeable. From the tea bag (and even how it was packed), the aroma, and the loose leaf, TWG Tea is superior.

TWG Teas teabags are made of 100% cotton and are hand-sewn. The loose leaf teas are naturally fragrant (unlike other brands which are perfumed to give a more aromatic feel to it) and the loose leaves are bigger.

Silver Moon Tea. Small pot at PHP 145.00. TWG’s bestseller tea is the Silver Moon. It was delicate and lovely, and is worth trying if you visit La Creperie.

            For the Crepes,

Le JJ. Ham, Emmental and Gruyere Cheese, Tomato, Garlic, Chili Flakes. PHP 215.00. Le JJ is cheesy and a little spicy at first bite, but as you go further, you start to distinguish the ingredients and you start to love it. Somewhat addicting—in a good way.

Nami. Herbed Cheese, Fresh Shitake Mushroom, Caramelized Onion. PHP 225.00. This is my favorite since I love cheese, caramelized onion and shitake mushrooms. Heavenly!:)

La Christine. A house favorite with Fresh Strawberries, Homemade Strawberry Jam and Whipped Cream. PHP 145.00. La Christine is beautiful, probably one of the most attractive crepes in La Creperie. It would have been the perfect crepe if the strawberries are sweet too. But that’s what’s good and unique about La Creperie. Even if the strawberries aren’t sweet, they don’t sugarcoat it. Ingredients are guaranteed fresh.

La Creperie is not your ordinary crepe shop and it doesn’t satisfy your craving—it just makes you want to have more! Magical!:)
